I feel that different tools impart different design details, and encourage different ways of thinking. If you are a writer, using a computer encourages you to edit and correct as you type. If you write with a typewriter or a pen, they discourage that same behavior. One is not better than another, but they produce a different result. When I am writing a technical article, I appreciate the interactive experience on the computer. When I am writing fiction, editing will kill me so I use a typewriter. When I am writing poetry, I want to be unbounded, so I use a pen. If you know what you want to accomplish, you can choose the tool that best allows you to express that.
